ABOUT US

Mission Statement
RSNC's mission is to "Promote dignity and independence of people with disabilities and other special needs."

Background
Rehabilitation Services of Northern California was established in 1949 as a private, nonprofit 501(c)3 public benefit corporation. RSNC has centers in San Francisco and Contra Costa Counties, serving more than six hundred people each year. The RSNC Board of Directors are dedicated community volunteers who provide guidance, support and their expertise to the organization.

Services
Our programs include Adult Day Health Care services for frail elders and persons with Alzheimer's and related dementias. This program is designed for loved ones who can engage in a safe and supportive environment during the day, while still living at home with their family members. Adult Day Health Care services are licensed by the State Department of Health Services and State Department of Aging.

We are also proud to offer information and referral resources to the local community, as well as support services to caregivers and family members of frail elders and persons with Alzheimer's and related dementias.

Additionally, we provide vocational services for adults and young adults with disabilities who face barriers to employment, or need assistance finding the path that will help them achieve their life goals.

Programs
RSNC has three centers in the Bay Area. The Mt. Diablo Center in Pleasant Hill and the Bedford Center in Antioch offer adult day health care and other day services. San Francisco Vocational Services in San Francisco offers vocational evaluation, training, and placement to adults and young adults with disabilities. Our Transitional Partnership Program serves students graduating from high school in East Contra Costa County. This program is housed at our Pleasant Hill location.

Volunteers
The development and success of the agency is due in great part to the volunteer support it receives from the community. Volunteer support is evident in many areas including: Board and advisory committee members, representatives from businesses, referral agencies and consumers who serve on the advisory boards for the centers, members of service organizations and employees of area businesses who donate their time and money to various projects of the agency; various individuals who have special interests and/or skills who assume functions which would otherwise be provided by staff or likely not at all; and finally, our dedicated auxiliary members.

For over 50 years, our auxiliary members have donated their time to benefit Mt. Diablo Center through a number of fundraising events. We appreciate their strong commitment and support of our programs.
