Employment
Services Rehabilitation Services of Northern California (RSNC) operates
four programs under Employment Services: Foster Youth Transitional
Program, Fee for Service, Job Coaching and Personal/Vocational /Social
Adjustment. All programs provide employment services to individuals
with disabilities that have been referred by the State Department
of Rehabilitation. RSNC is accredited by CARF under Community Employment
Services.
Foster
Youth Transitional Program. RSNC, the State Department of Rehabilitation,
Contra Costa County Office of Education and the Foster Youth Transition
Partnership Program collaborate to provide employment services for
graduating seniors with disabilities who are in the foster youth
program to faciliate a successful transition from school to work.
All referrals come from Department of Rehabilitation. Clients receive
assistance in preparing resumes, cover letters, filling out applications
and researching the job market. They also receive services in the
areas of job retention, job coaching and travel training which lead
to self-sufficiency, enhanced self-confidence and maximized potential.
Fee
for Service. This program serves generalist clients that are
referred by the Department of Rehabilitation. In the first phase
of the program, RSNC's Employment Specialist and client develop
the Individual Service Plan (ISP). In the next phase, the Employment
Specialist assists the client in preparing a resume and master application.
The client learns interview skills, appropriate dress and other
aspects of how to get a job. The Employment Specialist then begins
the process of finding open positions. The next step is for the
client to obtain a job and begin work. Clients are monitored for
90 days after employment to ensure they keep their job.
Job
Coaching helps the client maintain their job by teaching them
what to do at work. They are coached in areas such as learning to
count money, stocking, cleaning, etc.
Personal
Vocational Social Adjustment (PVSA). Clients are trained in
areas such as taking public transportation and purchaing clothes
to wear on an interview.
